Since a few tags we are building releases binaries and images matching the official Forgejo tags. This allows us (and others) to more easily run and test our forked code base.

The custom tweaks to the CodeFloe fork are outlined in the forgejo-codefloe README.
A note on compatibility: we try to stay conflict-free with Forgejo upstream (in terms of DB migrations) and hence switching between Forgejo stock and our fork should be seamless. While we try to continue with this approach, we can’t guarantee this will work forever. However, even if there might be conflicts at some point, these should be resolvable by a few patches to the DB migration tables.
