Trying to get my website ([https://codefloe.com/andris/website](https://codefloe.com/andris/website)) with the new codefloe hosted pages method. I am using hugo and forgejo actions. While the workflow runs trough the only thing what one can get at the urls below:

- [https://andris.codefloe.page/website/](https://andris.codefloe.page/website/)
- [https://andris.codefloe.page](https://andris.codefloe.page)
- [https://gonczol.eu](https://gonczol.eu)

is “not found” for the first and last link and “site not found” for the second link.

The pages branch show some generated files, although not entirely what I expected. The build step produces some warnings:

```auto
WARN found no layout file for "html" for kind "home": You should create a template file which matches Hugo Layouts Lookup Rules for this combination.
WARN found no layout file for "html" for kind "taxonomy": You should create a template file which matches Hugo Layouts Lookup Rules for this combination.
WARN found no layout file for "html" for kind "page": You should create a template file which matches Hugo Layouts Lookup Rules for this combination.
```

Running hugo locally on an archlinux machine it renders and serves the site properly without any warning.

Hi Andris, it looks like your Hugo theme is missing when the workflow builds the site. The theme is stored as a Git submodule, which needs to be included explicitly in the checkout step:

```auto
- uses: actions/checkout@v7
  with:
    submodules: recursive
```

Please update that step in `pages.yml` and rerun the workflow.

This explains the missing-layout warnings: Hugo copies your images and CSS but does not generate any HTML pages. I checked that your CSS loads through both the Codefloe Pages URL and `gonczol.eu`, so the hosting and custom domain are working.

**Thank you** , that’s solved it. The `gonczol.eu`is perfect.

However, the Codefloe Pages URLs load partially only. Not sure what to expect.

I am somewhat puzzled by the `github` namings in the `env` section. Does [GitHub](https://github.com/) have anything to do with publishing of the `pages` branch?

Glad that solved it!

Your Hugo configuration uses `https://gonczol.eu` as the site address.
That means links to styles and images work on your domain, but miss the `/website/` prefix needed on the Codefloe Pages URL.
You can keep the current setting and use `gonczol.eu` as your main address.

The `github` names are compatibility names in Forgejo.
Publishing happens on Codefloe.
You can replace the `env` section with these clearer names, which work exactly the same:

```yaml
env:
  TOKEN: ${{ secrets.FORGEJO_TOKEN }}
  SERVER_URL: ${{ forgejo.server_url }}
  REPOSITORY: ${{ forgejo.repository }}
  SHA: ${{ forgejo.sha }}
```

Great, I have just done that. I do prefer Forgejo/codefloe over GitHub. 🙂
