Dear community,
We’d like to inform you about a small but import change regarding the distribution of payments on our Liberapay account:
While so far we have been distributing all shares to the people maintaining and running the platform, we now changed this to sent all payments to the devXY account to cover the effective infrastructure costs. As you (hopefully) know, CodeFloe is legally run by a company (devXY), which so far has covered all infrastructure costs implicitly and distributed the incoming donations among the people doing the work.
However, we were advised that the donations must be treated as taxable revenue if the platform is legally hosted under the umbrella of the company and the company is paying the bills - at least up to a point (for us, this point would be the parity point of costs and donations, but we will see if that also works for the tax authorities).
We will continue to pursue our vision to provide a platform which aims to cover it’s infrastructure costs through it’s members and distributes additional revenue to the people working on the work (no matter where they are from) in a fully transparent manner.
